Shorthand used in Bazi software

In the globalized world, it is impossible to exclude non-mandarin speaking metaphysics fans.

A liberal dose of shorthand is necessary to see all the natal, current date time pillars, decade and annual pillars in one screen.

So I have taken the liberty to introduce some shorthand for the elemental combinations and it is clearly documented in the user guide.

The cryptic text '6C Hr = ' is trying to say the following

6 combinations with hour branch but not transformed to wood!

The app has clearly shown the half combination between the Yin (Tiger) and Hai (Pig) branch.

Mth ½C Yr = Fire

The above notation says month branch half combines year branch transform to fire successfully because there is a tick ''.

Well it certainly beats using kludges like 'yang fire, yin earth'.

Interchangeable data format for BaziApp and Zi Wei Si Hua app

The latest updates for Zi Wei Si Hua and BaziApp give each application the ability to share data files.

With the Zi Wei app, you can read BaziApp data file and vice versa, this saves you from retyping all the users' data for each app.

I used the same theme and buttons to minimize learning curve for both apps.

Why share data?

Some things are easier in Bazi or Zi Wei, it is using the most efficient tool and building on the strengths and complementing each systems.  So do not be dogmatic and claim one is better than the other.  Adopt an open mind and keep learning as there at least 250,000 charts from each system.

Opps I need to remove the 'Demo Edition' label for the Zi Wei app 8)

More updates for BaziApp software

Today I added the following features today for the BaziApp for more efficient Bazi analysis.  The update's details has been posted via mailing list to those who recently purchase the app.

1. Ability to see previous and next Jie Qi for date of birth
2. Age is shown for all annual pillars
3. Color tone differences for yang/yin elements in natal and current date time pillars
4. Resolve UI/screen problems identified in patch 1.140219

Screen capture below has more information.

Please take note that the annual pillars' colors e.g. purple, green and black present a generic analysis of the auspiciousness

Please delve deeper into the chart using combinations/clashes to gain deeper understanding of the decade, annual and monthly pillars.

Some random thoughts in Qi Men Dun Jia

Qi Men Dun Jia, as its ambigous name suggests, has numerous interpretations.

Some blokes conclude the Qi refers to the 3 important trinity stems 'San Qi' (Yi, Bing, Ding) that are as important as the Doors aka 'Men'. There is the usual group that simply conclude the Qi Men refers to the 'Mysterious Doors' and hence attention should only be centered on the doors' plate.

The second part of 'Dun Jia' refers to the 'Hidden Jia' that is assigned as the Leader of the Heaven Stems in this context.  Since Jia is the leader and the other 9 stems represent the human-human aspects, the central theory is to investigate how Jia will be affected by the various interactions in the Qi Men plate.  By superimposing the fortunes of Jia based on how the various stems, doors, 9 stars and 8 deities influence it, most Qi Men exponent will be able to peek into the insights provided by a Qi Men chart.

Despite the numerous debates, many modern practitioners have cleverly extended the application of Qi Men Dun Jia into new fields with mixed results and often with matching steep fees.

The basic principle is simple, applying Qi Men Dun Jia theories improve one's chances realizing a outcome from a fluid and delicate situation.

The Hour School appears to be the most popular as 1080 charts seems to be a good representation of daily events as compared to the highly generic nature of the year, month and day charts.

While the Hour School is united in promoting their 1080 charts over the day, month and year school, they recently has fought among themselves over the different methods in the following matters.....

1. Imperial vs Non Imperial
The old debate between Zhi Run vs Chai Bu Ju determination. Each faction has credible defence and counter points but sadly there are very few studies in any books other than the lengthy theoretical debates.

2. Rotating vs Flying School
Less bad blood between these two groups because the Flying School is less visible and the Rotating School always almost enjoys disproportionately media and books exposure.

Example of a Rotating School Hour Qi Men Dun Jia chart.

However do not be fooled by the 1080 charts, if one considers the interactions among the entities within a palace, interaction among the palaces, the level complexity will greatly increase. Therefore Qi Men, while is rather versatile, is primarily used as a date selection system. This system hence complement the missing 'remedy' aspects from other life destiny techniques.

For example, in Bazi and Zi Wei, the secret sauce are usually missing to resolve a particular problem and the standard practice is to use other geomancy methods to address the problem at hand. With the application of Qi Men Dun Jia theories for delicate situations, the window of opportunity has been widen as nearest best hour can be used and the location can be selected to break a delicate deadlock.

There are numerous ingenious methods promoted by many schools recently but the standard practice is to use the following points;

1. Good doors
2. Good stems
3. Good auxiliary entities, 9 Stars, 8 Deities.
4. Context palace that has good doors and stems do not clash with each other (each palace has a elemental aspects that is similar to the stems and doors).
5. Day master stem or Tai Sui (birth year stem) is aided by earlier entities discussed .

Bilingual Bazi software launched!

Computer assisted chart strength classification with manual chart selection for easier events verification!

The software may have indicated the interactions and highlighted the favourable and challenging years, human ingenuity is still required to interpret the chart carefully.

Decades with black fonts do not necessary indicate all doom and gloom.

Similarly refrain from jumping in joy if you see purple fonts for the decade or annual stem and branch, an in-depth analysis, taking into consideration, the interactions from the annual years, months pillars may be required.

English text and shorthand for non-mandarin literate users.

The individual years for a decade are highlighted purple, black and green!

Competent Bazi analysts with proper training will understand the implications beyond the color coding by studying the combinations and clashes in the chart.

RRP SGD$190.00 for general public and part of proceeds goes to charity.  Email zwdsflying@yahoo.com for details.

You could learn Bazi, old school way, pick up your friends' birth charts and start analyzing.

Or attend formal courses.

If you are in Singapore, you can easily locate English Bazi classes around the city area.    SOCM has a good Bazi courseFor the latest updated schedule, please refer to the URL below.

Happy Lunar New Year and Release Candidate 1 for Bazi software

Happy Lunar New Year to everyone!

Li Chun at Lunar New Year?
Well, please take note that the year of the Horse (Jia Wu ) starts on Li Chun, 4th Feb 2014, 6:04 Singapore time.

The Basics - Favourable and Unfavourable elements in Bazi
The favourable and unfavourable years are the basics for any Bazi analysis.  Unfortunately given the proliferation of leisure magazine Bazi courses, there are writers who proposed discarding the notion of favourable and unfavourable elements since they conclude chart classification is an art?!

Sidestepping a difficult problem?
Using seasons to classify the chart or heck, just forget about chart strength??  The latter is a worse approach.  It merely sidesteps the problem but the older experienced Bazi hands take this basic step very seriously and are able to determine chart classification accurately.  Hence if your instructor cannot teach you the basic art of chart classification or the practical tricks to break the deadlock for delicate case, then it is advisable to seek another avenue.

Fuzzy logic in action
By first inspection, you will think this is a strong chart but once the combinations are taken into consideration, the picture has changed.

Turning off fuzzy logic chart classification
Therefore if you verify that the chart is indeed a weak chart, then the Bazi software is able to modify the chart classification and the unfavourable and favourable decades are updated instantly based on the following legend.

Purple=generally good.
Green=neutral.
Black=challenging.

The luck pillars are not absolute.  So do not get too happy or sad if you see the purple or black pillars.  They are subjected to the present annual,month pillars and some say day and hour pillars.

With the loose threads settled for the annual pillars, the Bazi application is ready as Release Candidate 1

It will be good if started all these projects 7 years earlier.

I will like to thank the beta testers for their assistance and feedback.
