Annual Pillars are now added to the Bazi software

One pet peeve of many Bazi application is the treatment of the year pillars.

Somehow the basic design is to tuck them aside, then you need to perform some magic and bring them back, well kind of strange.

I took another approach, to show them and highlight the favourable and unfavourable years.

Now you are able to see the natal, luck pillars, annual pillars and current pillars in one screen, the favourable and unfavourable years are highlighted for your convenience.

19 pillars for your analysis with all combinations clearly shown!

Bazi software in action

Today I added a checkbox to turn off the fuzzy logic when analyzing the chart in various decades.

If a chart does not match the key events, then you can manual select the chart type.  Yes, the good/bad decades will be updated automatically.

I have provided the reasons (in earlier blog) why certain charts will require manual adjustments.  If you come across anybody who boast that that he or she has absolutely no need to adjust chart classification, that is 200% a big fat lie.

Another standard feature implemented for Bazi software

Today I highlight another feature that highlights the favourable and challenging decades.  Decades with blocked transformation are marked green.

I have originally wanted to use the traffic light convention ... let's take a look at the feedback at a later date.

There is this old concept if an element has not undergo successful transformation, it is labeled as blocked but its latent implications will come alive in important certain decade, years, months, day and hour pillars.

This is a standard feature that must be part of any Bazi application.

It serves as a good visual hint for allow a Bazi reader to zoom into problematic years.

I repeat 'good visual hint'.

There will always be a few charts that require a deeper insight and experience to decode successfully.

This is the screen capture with Chinese text.

Latest update to the English/Chinese Bazi software

My beta Bazi application was completed earlier but I had the bad luck of seeing some interesting and awful Bazi software in the market.  So I decided to take on the challenge to incorporate the chart strength determination as a Bazi software without this feature simply looks queer.

The following are the minimum requirements of a Bazi charting application, not the lifestyle magazine type.

1.Bilingual 1900-2100 Ganzhi calendar Bazi charts plotting
2. Showing 10 decade luck pillars with colors highlighting challenging and favourable years.
3. Interactions between 9 pillars skillfully displayed in English or Chinese text
4. BaZi's chart strength/type determination
5. Ability to switch chart type 'manually'
6. User data saving supported

So you should imagine how a professional edition will resemble 8)

Editions aside, I decided to use a slightly more advanced version of the day master strength algorithm incorporating the combinations. That expensive detour took me a few days to get the basic engine working properly.

I am still fine-tuning the charting engine but it has reach 80% accuracy and is able to deal with the following chart types.

1. Strong
2. Weak
3. Passive and Fake Passive
4. Dominant and Fake dominant

I avoided using fanciful names e.g. 'follow son' as I prefer to stick to general and simple principles, well no tryst or affinity with poetry 8).

Of course, no algorithm is perfect, with time I hope it gets better, I am aiming for 95% but there is a manual chart selector for the highly experienced Bazi exponent.

In addition, I left out some controversial chart strength formula as I need more time to ponder over their significance.

Today I completed marking out the decades showing the better and challenging decades. Added the English output too but due to space, I have to resort to short hand.

For example ▲ denotes fire while ♣ stands for wood, well the idea is simple but it takes time for the English reader to understand the legends.  For the Mandarin speaking bloke, you will feel at home after switching to the Mandarin language version.

The following screen capture show give everybody a better feel of the most elementary features of a bazi application with English text.

Part of the sales proceeds, similar to the earlier titles goes to charity.

For those who purchased the Qi Men and Si Hua Zi Wei software, I would like to say 'thank you' as you have indirectly aided the charities in your pursue of metaphysical studies.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the noblemen who has been incessantly bugged by me for the last 2 months.

One more feature for Bazi software

Now you have the ability to change the chart type if the events do not match.

Events do not match?

Joking?  C'mon lets be realistic.

It happens when
1. You have a big sample size or client pool
2. You have the fortune to bug those gentlemen who are in the business for decades
3. Accrued enough merits, then the special charts will look for you and jolt you out of your comfort zone.

In the many modern new age 'feel good' Bazi schools, the standard answer for a mismatch chart is the time or even the true solar time.

The hour could be wrong.  Note that some day-masters are equally foggy about their hours and some charts dependent on the hour as a tiebreaker.

The nurses at the hospital could be so busy and the accurately time keeping may not be their top priority, give and take 5 minutes.

Well in some circumstances, 5 minutes is a long time.

Beyond the time, we must think carefully, there are truly other reasons.

'I seem all, Brother Keong must be drunken or high on that Saturday night .... what charts have I missed?'.

In that case, please wait, with enough merits accrued, that rare chart will come looking for you.

Not the run of the mill fake passive-weak types....evener rarer and more difficult than that.

Perhaps one day, I will too see another category of  a special chart, then I will put in the software as a update too 8)

Welcome to 2014!

2013 was a fruitful year.

I completed two production grade Chinese metaphysical apps, Si Hua Zi Wei and the standard 9 Palaces Qi Men Dun Jia.

With the momentum gained, I decided to write a Bazi app.  It is indeed an challenging system, more challenging to tell the computer how to determine the strength of a chart.

The last few days were spent tuning the chart strength engine to improve computer assisted chart strength determination.

Blood not shedded in vain, I gain experience when reviewing close to 100 charts in one full moon, that is about 3 per day after a hibernation for many years.
Hmmh, if each reading costs $100, I will have around $10,000.

Wow!

However at the end of the day, all Bazi chart readers must understand the ethics involved in a life reading, the money is secondary to the aim of helping the day master understand his luck phases.

Ok, $10k is nothing compared to bugging I inflicted on my hapless noblemen who helped me verified the charts.

Thank you to them.

There is certainly joy along the journey, including the bad hair days.

In a bad day, I discarded one entire strength engine after 3 days of feverish work.   I decided there was no point in patching it, throwing good effort in bad design.

Interestingly a total rewrite improved the accuracy by 20% and the algorithm was 80% simpler and cleaner.  Well with age, experience do help meet the decreasing vigor (thanks to aging!?).

Well I should have started writing all these apps earlier rather than pub hop.

I have spent more than 7 days on the strength engine by considering the arcane rules of combinations.

Why?

To meet and exceed existing specifications of the top bazi applications in the market.

Not the lifestyle magazine Bazi apps where you only have a nice colourful chart.

For the old bazi hands, they know which serious Bazi applications I am referring to.

To craft a app that Bazi fans and pros will like to use, a useful tool, provided they do not read the computer code and propose a course in software engineering 8) for the software's author.

Perhaps I will unite Bazi, Si Hua Zi Wei?

Why stop at Bazi and Zi Wei?  We have our good friend, Qi Men Dun Jia?!  Let him join the party too?

Not forgetting the one that started it all....
